Privacy Policy — Eli Schinke

Privacy Policy

Last updated: [August 25, 2025]

Welcome. I’m Eli Schinke. This policy explains what I collect on elischinke.com, how I use it, and your rights — especially if you’re in California.

Plain‑English version: I keep data collection minimal. No ads, no selling your info.

What I Collect

Identifiers you choose to give me (if you email me): name, email, message content.

Internet activity (analytics): IP address, pages viewed, device/browser info, timestamps. Used to understand site traffic.

Approximate location (from IP via analytics), for audience geography only.

Sources: directly from you (email) and automatically via analytics.

Purpose: reply to inquiries; maintain and improve the site; security/fraud prevention; legal compliance.

Disclosure: service providers (e.g., analytics) only, under contracts; no selling or sharing for cross‑context behavioral advertising.

Cookies & Analytics

This site may use privacy‑friendly analytics (e.g., Google Analytics or a similar tool) to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. For Google Analytics opt‑out, see the GA Opt‑Out Add‑On.

Do Not Track

Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There’s no consistent industry standard for processing DNT signals, so the site doesn’t respond to them. I already avoid advertising trackers and profiling here.

Data Retention

I keep email inquiries as long as needed to communicate, then archive or delete. Aggregated analytics data may be retained for trend analysis. If you want your info deleted, ask — see Exercising Your Rights below.

Security

Basic technical and organizational measures are used to protect information. No method is 100% secure; don’t email highly sensitive info.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their data.

Your California Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you’re a California resident, you can:

  • Know/Access the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
  • Delete personal information (with some legal exceptions).
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt‑out of sale or sharing of personal information. I do not sell or share your data for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information (none is intentionally collected here).
  • Non‑discrimination for exercising your rights.

Notice at Collection (California)

Categories collected: Identifiers (name, email), Internet activity (IP, pages, device), Approximate geolocation.

Purposes: communications, site performance, security, compliance.

Retention: emails kept while necessary for communication; analytics retained in aggregate form for trends.

Sale/Sharing: Not sold or shared for cross‑context behavioral advertising.

Exercising Your Rights

To make a request (access, delete, correct, or general questions), email: [email protected].

I’ll verify your request (to confirm you’re the person the data relates to) and respond within the time required by California law.

“Shine the Light” (CA Civil Code §1798.83)

I don’t disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. If that changes, I’ll update this page and provide your opt‑out choices.

Changes to This Policy

If I change how the site collects or uses data, I’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date.
